IPP Media Limited is one of leading East Africa’s largest Media conglomerates and it was incorporated on 9th November, 1999. IPP Media is a private company, held under IPP Group Limited and based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

IPP Media comprises nine newspapers, which are published daily in both English (The Guardian, Sunday observer, Financial Times and This day) and Swahili (Taifa letu, Nipashe, Majira, Lete raha). It also has three television stations (ITV, EATV and Capital television) and three radio stations (Radio One, Capital FM and East Africa radio), amongst which are the most consumed in Tanzania. IPP Media is part of IPP private own group of companies and it was established by Mr. Reginald Abraham Mengi, since 1980s after serving as Chairman and Managing Partner of Coopers & Lybrand in Tanzania. IPP Group Limited is a manufacturing, bottling and media conglomerate, which includes television, radio stations and newspapers. The IPP group was stated as a small scale, hand operated ball point pen assembly plant in Dar es Salaam and has now expanded and diversify to become of largest industrial groups in East Africa. It now comprises four core divisions such as Media, Beverages (Kilimanjaro Pure Drinking water, holds the franchise for Coca Cola carbonated soft drinks brands, sole importer and distributor of Carlsberg and Spirits), household and beauty care, minerals prospecting and mining.

Its company profile requested at the Business Registry shows that Mengi is shareholder of IPP Group Limited as well as Agapitus Leon Nguma.

Mengi was born in 1944 in Tanzania. He is a Tanzanian philanthropist, industrialist, media tycoon and the founder/Executive Chairman of IPP Group. He also is the vice president of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors, Tanzania. Mengi was featured in FORBES’ ranking of Africa’s richest people with a fortune of more than $400 million in 2015.

Agapitus Leon Nguma was the former company secretary and shareholder. He passed away on May 1st, 2018. He was also Director of the Guardian Ltd. and Bonite Bottlers Ltd. Lawyer by profession.
